Giant Pufferfish Devours Crab Alive in Terrifying Viral Video - Newsweek

Image
A video of a giant fish devouring a live crab with a satisfying crunch is going viral online, with the clip watched more than 20 million times. The short video starts with a yellow crustacean standing at the bottom of a tank, when a patterned yellow pufferfish swims up next to it. In a matter of seconds the fish hoovers up the crab and chomps it into numerous pieces, with the cracking of the shell clearly audible as the predator devours its meal. The Mbu pufferfish is the mascot of the Aquarium Co-op store, in Washington, and is called Murphy. Worker, Cory McElroy, regularly shares feeding clips online of Murphy—who is almost two feet long—and the store even has a live cam so fans can check in on the "beloved" pufferfish. Murphy's diet consists of shellfish, including mollusks, clams and mussels. He's also fed crustaceans, including fiddler crabs, which Cory adds into the tank live for the Mbu to hunt. The viral feeding clip was later shared to TikTok by user Ryan, wh...

Image
Kochi: An audio clip, purportedly of actor Vijay Babu, has surfaced in which he is heard talking to a relative of the survivor of the sexual assault for a compromise in the case. "Please listen to me for five minutes. I swear I will die. I have done only good things to her. My mom is ill. Please think about her. Think about her (survivor) mother. If the complaint is leaked, police will celebrate it. I know their nature," he tells the women on the other end. When the receiver says she can't help and the complaint has gone out of the survivor's hand as Vijay "triggered" her, the actor says he accepts that he "triggered" her. "But there is a solution for that. I will beg for forgiveness. I will touch her feet (as an apology). Let her beat me or do whatever she pleases. But she must not let the public celebrate this. Isn't this all humane? Yes I triggered here. We had a fight. Isn't there a solution to it? Should it lead to filing a police...

Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser ($16) Skin Type: Acne-Prone Texture: Cream-to-Foam Benefits: "The key ingredient in this one is benzoyl peroxide, which is an awesome over-the-counter ingredient for acne, but it can be a little harsh on the skin, so mixing it into a hydrating cream—with hyaluronic acid, ceramides and niacinamide—makes it more tolerable for many users," says Dr. Turegano. "The cream-to-foam texture potentially offsets some irritation, and the 4-percent benzoyl peroxide concentration is great for most skin types to clear existing acne breakouts, including blackheads, and help prevent new ones from forming. Do note, however, that benzoyl peroxide can have a bleaching effect on linens, so make sure to rinse it off thoroughly before bed so you don't stain your pillowcase, and use white towels. And if you wash your back with it for bacne, make sure you don't ruin your pajamas." A Guide to CeraVe's Skin Cleansers - NewBeauty Magazine

Q: Can technology help me safely age in place? A: This is a topic we keep coming back to because of technology's amazing progress and its relevance for today's seniors. Year after year, AARP reminds us that nearly 90% of seniors want to "age in place" in their own homes. Cognitive and physical declines and social isolation make this a challenging goal for many. Evolving technology, however, is continuing to create and refine ways to help keep seniors safe and happy at home. A mosquito net is an excellent preventive measure against mosquito-borne diseases (C Suresh Kumar/BCCL, Chennai) As we enter the last week of June, monsoon is knocking on the doors of the last few states in the northwest while continuing to gain strength across the country. While many may find this to be a joyous occasion, the monsoon and its army of ailments associated with the rain can cause tragedy for many more throughout these months. In fact, despite the fact that the monsoon hasn't been very active in the city, dengue, gastroenteritis, and hepatitis cases have already started to rise in Mumbai. According to the BMC, the city has recorded two cases of H1N1 and one case of Chinkunhungya between June 1 and 19, and almost double the number of cases of dengue compared to June of last year (22 cases between June 1 and 19 versus only 12 cases in June 2021). While this is naturally tragic, there is also a valid reason behind the periodic increase in diseases during the rainy months!...

Private Health Insurance: Limited Data Hinders Understanding of Short-Term Plans' Role and Value During the COVID-19 Pandemic - Government Accountability Office

What GAO Found One option that may be available to those who lose jobs with employer-sponsored insurance (ESI) during the COVID-19 pandemic is short-term plans, which can cover certain health expenses. These plans are generally not subject to federal requirements for individual health insurance coverage established by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), such as restrictions on basing premiums on pre-existing health conditions and the requirement to cover 10 essential health benefits. Federal requirements for short-term plans are primarily limited to defining their duration—the length of time a consumer can be covered by them. States have broad authority and discretion in regulating short-term plans, and regulation of short-term plans varies across states. For example, some states have prohibited their sale and some have imposed restrictions in addition to federal requirements. GAO found that limited and inconsistent data hinder understanding of the role shor...
