Lunar Celtic Dream offers peace, calm and crystals - Zanesville Times Recorder

ZANESVILLE — When customers walk into Lunar Celtic Dream in the Colony Square Mall, Shonda and Bridgette Rhine want them to feel differently than they do in other stores.
"We want them to come in and have a sense of peace," said Bridgette. "We want them to feel good energy and just be relaxed."
Helping to cultivate that atmosphere is an eclectic mix of products, from crystals and geodes to candles and incense, soaps, and clothing. The Rhines make a lot of their own products, including jewelry. They also pour their own candles.
"Everything is all natural," said Bridgette.
They call the store an eclectic mystic boutique and metaphysical store. The crystals and herbs they sell are focused on self-healing, and carry various properties, they said.
"Obsidian can be for protetin, rose quartz for self love, dragon's blood jasper for protection," Bridgette said.
When customers come in, Shonda said, they will be drawn to what they should buy. "What is calling to you? You shouldn't just say 'ooh, that's pretty' you should feel drawn to it, especially your crytals, you should have a pull toward it.
"They will tell you what you should get, they will draw you," she said.
They also sell a lot of herbs, focused on holistic healing. All are safe for consumption, usually in teas. To help beginners, the store sells a herbal kit, a selection of herbs, iincense, some sage, a journal and a variety of crystals for beginners, all in a leather case.
While massive geodes are an attraction in the store, they also sell smaller ones "so kids can start their collection," said Shonda. "We try and keep our prices low enough so we can stay above water, but with the economy being what it is, low enough so people can afford to come in," said Bridgette.
Adding to the varied nature of the store is a photo studio, Shutter Up Photographs.
"It is the first photo studio in the mall in a very long time," Shonda said. "There are not very many photo studios left in Zanesville."
Right now the studio is decorated for fall. On December first, it will switch to a Christmas theme. Bridgette is the photographer.
If customers have any questions, Bridgette and Shonda said they will do their best to educate, and if they don't know they answer, they know people who will. They also try to promote fellow small businesses. "We are all in this together," Bridgette said.
