Tesla Raises Base Prices of Model S and Model X but Makes Premium Features Standard - Interesting Engineering

Image
The 'Premium Upgrades Package' is now standard on the 75D and 100D versions rather than just the performance models. It was originally priced at $5,000 for the upgraded non-performance versions. The upgrade includes a HEPA air filter with the Bioweapon Defense Mode, an improved audio system, and features to fight against the cold like a heated steering wheel and heated seats for all passengers.  [see-also] The boost in quality for these two models also means a boost in price. However, the base prices for both the Model S and the Model X only rose by $2,000 rather than the $5,000 it would originally cost. Thus, a Model S 75D version will start at $77,000 and the Model X 75D version starts at $83,000.  Financial analysts have already noted the change boosted the company's stocks slightly, giving more confidence to investors rather than the shaky (and often turbulent) production and release of Tesla's Model 3 units.  Tesla Raises B...

The great reset to serfdom starts with a monthly payment Image credit Imagine you buy a car. A posh car. A BMW. The kind of car you'll glory in driving for a decade or longer. You'd expect it to come with heated seats, right? There's nothing like toasty buns on a frosty morning. Now imagine one December morning you slip into your car and the heated seats suddenly don't work. Nothing's technically wrong with the heated seats, of course — you just failed to pay BMW the vampiric $18 monthly fee that they're now charging their customers for the pleasure. That's right: Over a ten-year period, BMW owners will have to fork out more than $2,000 just to turn on their own heated seats . I know what you're thinking —"boohoo Beemer owners, you can afford to get robbed by technology monopolizers." But subscription serfdom isn't just for luxury cars. It's a rapidly expanding business model that will leave us all in poverty and slavery. Rent-seeking D...

They have expressed concerns about late fees and decreased credit scores.  Chillicothe resident Justin Sparks, 24, said he was having trouble logging onto his account for his PlayStation rewards card from June 23 to June 30. "I was not notified or anything about them doing an update," Sparks wrote in a message to The Dispatch. "I looked to Twitter to figure out what was going on, and saw many other people ...
