How To Factory Reset The Samsung Galaxy S24

We know it may be a bit soon, but you will want to learn how to factory reset the Samsung Galaxy S24 at one point. Let's walk you through the process. These steps work on all versions, including the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra.

QUICK ANSWER

The easiest way to factory reset the Samsung Galaxy S24 is by using the settings. Go to Settings > General management > Reset > Factory data reset. Confirm by selecting Reset again, then hit Delete all. You may be asked to enter your credentials and log into your Samsung account throughout the process.

You can also use Android recovery, Google's Find My Device, or Samsung's Find My Mobile to factory reset your Galaxy S24. Keep reading to learn about these methods.

The simplest way to factory reset your Samsung Galaxy S24 is through the settings menu. Follow these steps:

  • Launch the Settings app.
  • Go into General management.
  • Hit Reset.
  • Select Factory data reset.
  • You'll see a screen with all your personal accounts and phone data. Scroll to the bottom and click the Reset button.
  • You will be asked for your credentials if you have a security lock on the phone.
  • When ready, hit Delete all.
  • You will be asked for your password if you're logged into your Samsung account.
  • Sit back and wait until the phone reboots. This is an intensive process that takes a bit of time, so make sure to leave the phone plugged in or with plenty of battery; at least 50%. Also, we recommend removing the case to keep it from overheating.

    Factory reset using Android recovery

If, for any reason, your Samsung Galaxy S24 can't be reset using the settings, you can use Android recovery mode. This process is a bit more complex, but we can help you through the process. It's not as scary as it seems.

  • Make sure the Samsung Galaxy S24 device is powered off.
  • Simultaneously press and hold the side and volume up buttons. Keep holding for about 10 seconds.
  • When the device vibrates, release the side button, but keep holding the volume up button. Eventually, the phone will display the Android recovery screen.
  • Inside the Android recovery menu, you can use the volume buttons to move up and down, while the side key can select options.
  • Highlight Wipe data/factory reset and press the side button.
  • Select Factory data reset.
  • The process will begin. Wait until it finishes.
  • When done, select Reboot system now and wait for the phone to restart.
  • Keep in mind factory resetting your Samsung phone using the Android recovery menu will trigger Factory Reset Protection, also known as FRP. The system will ask for the previous account's password, to protect the user from theft. This means you should initiate the set-up if you plan to give the phone to someone else. After inputting the password, the new user can enter his account. If you don't do this, the new person may need your password to use the device. That's something we shouldn't share with anyone.

You can factory reset the Galaxy S24 remotely

Sadly, we can't always reach the devices we want to factory reset. This is especially the case if you lost the Galaxy S24, or if you think it was stolen. Thankfully, you can remotely factory reset a Samsung Galaxy S24 using your Google or Samsung account.

Factory reset using Google's Find My Device

You probably signed into your Google account. If so, you can use Find My Device to factory reset the Samsung Galaxy S24.

  • Go to www.Google.Com/android/find on a browser.
  • If needed, log into your Google account.
  • You'll see your devices in the top-left corner. Select the Samsung Galaxy S24.
  • Select Erase Device.
  • Click on the Erase Device button.
  • Confirm by selecting Erase.
  • Factory reset using Samsung's Find My Mobile

Samsung also has its own solution, known as Find My Mobile. It works very similarly.

  • Go to https://findmymobile.Samsung.Com/ on a browser.
  • If needed, sign into your Samsung account.
  • Select your Galaxy S24 on the left side of the screen.
  • Select Erase data.
  • Confirm by selecting Erase.
  • Once you perform either of these actions, a factory data reset will be triggered the next time the phone connects to the internet.

FAQs What is the difference between a hard reset and a soft reset?

A soft reset is a regular reboot. A hard reset is a forced device restart, typically done using hardware key combinations. The latter is usually used when a device is unresponsive, and can cause data loss. Neither of these are to be confused with a factory data reset, which is a method for wiping the device, deleting all content and settings.

Does a factory reset delete everything?

Yes. A factory data reset will wipe all files and settings from a device. Next time it turns on, you'll have to go through the set-up process again, as if the device were new.

How do I factory reset my Galaxy S24 without a password?

You can factory reset the Samsung Galaxy S24 without a password by using the Android recovery and remote methods in this guide. The trick is that you'll still have to deal with FRP. If you have no access to the Google account last used by the Galaxy S24, you won't be able to use the device.

Is it safe to factory reset my Galaxy S24?

It's safe to factory reset the Samsung Galaxy S24. Just keep in mind this process will delete all files and settings in the device. If you have any important files, make sure to backup the Galaxy S24 before. All that said, some believe a factory data reset is not enough in terms of security.

Unlock Your T-Mobile Samsung Phone Early If You Take Advantage Of This Rule-breaking Glitch

T Mobile logo on phone stock photo

    Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority

    TL;DR

  • A strange glitch is allowing users to network unlock T-Mobile Samsung phones.
  • The glitch appears to work regardless of your phone's status with T-Mobile, essentially allowing you to bypass network unlock restrictions.
  • The glitch will undoubtedly be fixed soon, but it is unlikely T-Mobile could re-lock a phone remotely.
  • When you buy a smartphone from a carrier, you usually are locked into some sort of payment plan. During the period of that plan, the phone will be network-locked, meaning you can't bring it to another network. Once the phone is paid off, you can then contact the carrier and have it network unlocked so you can take it to another provider if you want.

However, it looks like folks with Samsung phones on T-Mobile can bypass this restriction thanks to a strange glitch. As first spotted by The Mobile Report and corroborated by dozens of Redditors, through a simple series of taps on your phone, you can get network unlocked regardless of whether or not you still have payments left on your plan.

We've outlined the steps to do this below if you're interested. Before doing this, though, be sure to understand that this is absolutely a violation of your TOS with T-Mobile, so perform the steps at your own risk.

  • On your Samsung phone, open the Settings app.
  • In Settings, scroll down and tap on Connections.
  • Open More Connection Settings.
  • Tap on Network Unlock.
  • Place a request for a Temporary Unlock.
  • Wait a bit, and then request a Permanent Unlock.
  • Reboot your phone to be sure it worked, and then check your lock status and find you are now network unlocked.
  • Obviously, this article and others like it will push T-Mobile/Samsung to fix this obvious glitch. However, once you network unlock your phone, it would not be easy for T-Mobile to then relock it, especially if you install the unlocked version of Android that Samsung provides directly to consumers. This would require a complete wipe of your phone's data, but you would no longer have any T-Mobile bloatware on your phone and would get monthly security patches directly from Samsung, so there are lots of perks to that.

Once again, despite this glitch working, anyone who takes advantage of it is clearly breaking T-Mobile's rules and could face some consequences. Do this at your own risk!

FAQs Does Samsung offer free shipping?

Yes, all orders come with free shipping as default, meaning you won't be lumped with additional charges on top of the price you pay. If you want to get your goods quicker, you can pay for expedited shipping at the checkout.

    What is Samsung Rewards?

Samsung has its own Samsung Rewards program that operates as a loyalty scheme for regular customers. Anyone can sign up for this, regardless of whether they use Samsung Pay or not, and you'll earn a number of points back per purchase. As of writing, one point equates to around $0.005 of value and you can earn points from not just purchases, but by also referring friends to the Samsung Store and with free 'random' giveaways by Samsung itself.

Who qualifies for Samsung first responder discount?

Paramedics, firefighters, police, doctors, nurses, and anyone who can be readily accessed via a 911 call for their job should be qualified for the Samsung first responder program. To check your eligibility, you'll need to verify yourself using your work email and a valid ID using the ID.Me service on the Samsung site. While there are a few hoops to jump through here, discounts can range all the way up to 30% off so it's definitely worth investigating if you think you're eligible.

When and what is Samsung Week?

Samsung Week is the official Samsung Store's big annual sale, offering some of the best discounts you'll find all year round on phones, TVs, and appliances, among other tech. In past years, this week-long shopping extravaganza was held in late October or early November, a date that generally coincides with the build-up to the yearly Black Friday sales. If you're on the hunt for some discounted Samsung tech then you'll definitely want to keep an eye out for this year's Samsung Week, which we're expecting to fall on similar dates.

    What is Samsung Pay?

Samsung Pay is the brand's own digital payment method, and you can use it to make contactless payments on all kinds of purchases. Users of the scheme will also receive the occasional Samsung Cashback deal, letting you earn money back for using their service and making purchases.

How do I contact Samsung customer service?

You can contact Samsung via phone on 1-800-SAMSUNG. Alternatively, you can contact them online via their website or social media platforms.

    Does Samsung price match?

Yes, if you find a better price for a Samsung product at a recognised third party retailer, Samsung will match or beat that price. You can save even more by using our discount codes.

Does Samsung offer a warranty for their products?

Yes, Samsung offers a warranty on all products bought directly from them. Warranties can vary product-to-product so its important to confirm the warranty on your product by contacting the Samsung customer service team.

    Hints and tips

Trade in your old devices: The Samsung Store, like many other retailers these days, offers a really competitive trade-in program that you can use to not only safely dispose of your old tech, but get some really juicy discounts on new purchases. If you have an old phone, laptop, or tablet that works and is in relatively good condition, then we'd highly recommend investigating the myriad trade-in options you'll find before you check out one of the latest Galaxy smartphones, Galaxy Book laptops, or Galaxy Tab tablets.

Shop around big retail events: Yearly events like Black Friday or Samsung Week are great times to be shopping at the official Samsung Store. Generally speaking, these run from late October to early December, and you'll regularly find the best prices all year on TVs and appliances at the Samsung store, as well as things like free smartwatches and earbuds being offered with Galaxy smartphones. Even though these two previously mentioned events take place late in the year, you'll generally find excellent deals on the Samsung offers page around other retail events like President's Day, Labor Day, and Amazon Prime Day in mid-summer.

Shop refurbished devices: Not bothered about getting the shiniest new device possible? A great alternative to buying a new device upfront is to head on over to the Samsung certified re-newed store. Here you'll find a number of pre-owned items that have been checked, refurbished, and tested by Samsung itself up for sale with discounts ranging up to 30% off new prices. Since these items are guaranteed under a 1-year warranty and are in 'like-new' condition, this is potentially a great option for bargain hunters and one that's much more eco-friendly than buying tech new.

Use student, military, and first responder discounts: Samsung offers a diverse range of exclusive discounts for certain occupations and students that are well worth checking out if you think you're eligible. While you'll need a relevant email address and photo ID, first responders, government workers, those in the military, and Samsung employees are all eligible for discounts ranging up to 30%.

Refer a friend: Signing up to the Samsung rewards scheme also unlocked the option to refer a friend for additional rewards. While your friend will get 5% off their purchase, you can potentially get points that are anywhere up to $100 per friend, for a potential total of $1,000 per year. If you know a friend who likes their Samsung tech as much as you do, them it's a great idea to ask them for a referral or visa versa.

How to use Samsung promo codes

    1. Select a Samsung promo code that appeals to you and copy it to your clipboard.

    2. To redeem your Samsung coupon code you'll need to copy and paste it into the 'Enter Promo/Referral Code(s) Here?' field when you checkout.

    3. After you've pasted in your code, simply click 'Apply' and then check out as usual to receive your discount.

    How we source coupon codes

Whether it's through our affiliate networks, the depths of the world wide web, or our connections with big name brands, here at TechRadar we use every tool at our disposal to source the latest codes. Our coupons team updates each of our pages multiple times a week with the most recent deals, including exclusive coupons negotiated by our Commercial team. We also include the latest sales info directly from retailers to offer the most up-to-date discounts around.

    How we test coupon codes

Each coupon you find on TechRadar has been tested before being uploaded by our dedicated Deals & Offers teams. You'll see a range of offers, from free shipping to student discounts, with savings available on all kinds of products & services. To make sure every coupon is ready to use, we don't list any user-specific or one-time codes.

We also include all relevant information about coupons, such as expiry dates and any terms & conditions, near the 'Get Code' button. You can see the details for an individual offer by clicking on the 'Terms & Conditions' text below the code and expanding the code area.

What to do if a coupon code doesn't work

Although we do our best to ensure all listed codes are tried & tested, sometimes coupons expire or terms & conditions are changed before we can update pages. Our team works hard to make sure our coupons are active and work as intended, and should you encounter an issue when using one, we'll work just as hard to help.

The best place to start is by checking the requirements. Click "View terms and conditions" to expand the code section and see any guidance on your chosen coupon. For example, you may need to meet a minimum spend, add other items to your basket to qualify for a multibuy offer, or confirm that your chosen code applies to the items in your basket (i.E. 10% off laptops).

If you're still having issues using your code, you can email our customer service team on coupons.Techradar@futurenet.Com. Include as many details as possible - such as which code you used and which coupon page it's listed on so our team can address your issue as fast as possible.

    How we make money

When it comes to coupons, TechRadar earns money via a commission-based model. For every brand we have a coupon page for, we've negotiated a deal that means we earn a percentage of total basket value in commission back from every order.

Using this model means we can offer our coupons to our customers free of charge. You won't pay any fees to add your chosen coupon to your basket - you'll simply pay the final order total once your discount has been applied.

If you want to find out more about TechRadar's coupons pages, you can visit our dedicated page on How We Source Coupon Codes and How to Use Them for more information.
